Health Through the Marae, are a Maaori Provider of Health, Education and Social Services. We are a Charitable Trust (CC49709) founded by Tahuna Minhinnick in 1990. The concept of Health Through The Marae is an effective way of using Tikanga and Culture as an appropriate medium for reaching Maaori and facilitating the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviours in order to improve Maaori health and well-being. An important advantage of this concept is that it provides Maaori with an opportunity to be responsible for the implementation and delivery of their own services. Hence these services can be more responsive to the local needs of Maaori and empower them to make their own decisions.
